Garden Landscaping in East Dulwich & South East London

Full garden builds — patios, walls, lawns, beds, garden rooms — installed properly to your design or a designer's plan. We can connect you with a garden designer or landscape architect if you don't already have one.

This is what most of our clients book us for. They've finished a kitchen extension, or moved into a new house, or finally accepted the back garden hasn't worked since the kids stopped being kids. They want it sorted properly, in one go, by one team. That's our bread and butter.

We don't do the design ourselves — we're builders, not designers. What we do is take a plan (yours, your landscape architect's, or a garden designer's) and build it the way it needs to be built: right levels, right drainage, right detailing, the bits that don't show but decide whether the garden is still flat in ten years.

If you don't have a designer yet and your project warrants one, we can introduce you to people we work with regularly across South East London.

Services we offer

  • Removal of existing patio, lawn, beds, sheds, fences
  • All groundworks — sub-base, levels, drainage where needed
  • Hard landscaping (paving, edging, paths, walls if needed)
  • Topsoil supply and grading
  • Lawns (turf or seed) with proper drainage prep
  • Bed preparation and planting to the agreed plan
  • Tree work and large-shrub clearance (we use a tree surgeon for this work)
  • Lighting and irrigation
  • Final tidy and clean handover
  • 1-year workmanship guarantee

Our process, start to finish

1. Site visit and listening. We walk the garden with you, look at the plan you have (or talk through what you're hoping to achieve if you don't have one yet), and make sure we understand the practical issues — drainage, access, levels, anything structural. If you need a designer, this is where we'll suggest a few we trust.

2. Itemised written quote. Within a week of the site visit you get a clear written quote, broken down by element — groundworks, hard landscaping, planting, structures — with a realistic timeline. No vague "supply and fit" line items.

3. Strip-out. Old patio up, old lawn off, old beds cleared. We protect the access route through the house with boards and dust sheets, and skip the waste in stages so the road outside isn't a building site.

4. Groundworks. This is where most of the time goes and where it should. Excavate to the right depth for each element, lay drainage where needed (we use a mini-digger and proper sub-base aggregate), build foundations for any walls or structures, install edge restraints. None of this shows in the finished garden. All of it decides whether the garden is still flat in ten years.

5. Hard landscaping. Patios laid, paths set, walls built, steps formed, edges restrained. Levels checked with a laser, falls set to drain water away from the house and away from any structures.

6. Soft landscaping. Topsoil graded, beds prepped, lawn laid or seeded, plants set out and planted to the plan.

7. Snag and handover. We walk the garden with you, fix anything that needs fixing, hand over a care sheet for the planting and any structures, and you have our number for the year that follows.

Rough costs

Every garden is different and we won't pretend otherwise, but for an East Dulwich / South East London garden, here's the kind of money you should expect to spend on a proper job:

  • New patio + new lawn + planting: £8,000 to £20,000
  • Full garden makeover (new layout, new patio, walls, lawn, planting): £15,000 to £35,000
  • Full makeover with garden room or built-in BBQ: £25,000 to £75,000
  • Front garden refresh (paving, planting, bin store): £6,500 to £15,000

What moves the price: how much groundworks is needed, the brick or stone you choose, how mature the planting is, and whether anything structural is involved (walls, garden rooms, BBQs). Design fees, if you go via a designer, are separate and paid directly to them.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • No — we don’t design gardens, we build them. If you have a plan from a designer or landscape architect, we’ll build to that. If you don’t have one yet and your project warrants it, we can introduce you to garden designers we work with regularly across South East London.

  • Typically 4 to 8 weeks for a standard London terrace. Add 4 to 6 weeks if there’s a garden room. Bigger jobs run longer.

  • Yes. We protect the route through the house, schedule noisy work into chunks, and store materials neatly. Most of our clients are home through the whole job.

  • Some of it. We fence off the active work zone and try to keep at least one usable area for kids and pets where we can.

  • Many South London streets have Tree Preservation Orders or sit in conservation areas where work to trees needs council notification. We check this as part of the survey and won’t touch a protected tree without clearance.

  • Yes — a single patio replacement, a new lawn, a rebuilt wall. Minimum job size is around £3,500.

How a quote works

  1. Tell us about your garden.
Use the form opposite to describe what you’d like done — a new patio, garden room, full redesign, or anything in between. WhatsApp 07584 928 681 if it’s easier.

  2. Send a plan or photos.
Already have a plan from a landscape architect or garden designer? Upload it. Otherwise, just attach a few photos of your existing garden so we can see what we’re working with.

  3. We assess the job and call you.
We’ll review everything you’ve sent, work out what’s involved, and ring you to talk it through.

  4. Book a site visit when it suits you.
We come and walk the garden with you to confirm the details, then send a clear, fixed written quote — itemised by element so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
